Homer meanwhile is struggling on his journey, when "Boob Lady" appears in the sky and points him in the right direction with her gigantic breasts. He approaches a spot where he can survey the city and finds that the EPA have set up a compound around the dome. He hears a noise and tells Lisa to stop playing her saxophone, he then realizes that they are in a nearby EPA van and uses a parked bulldozer to attempt to free them, which fails, resulting in him being crushed by the wrecking ball.

Back inside the dome, the townspeople are fruitlessly attempting to disarm the bomb and eventually decide on a diversion. Cletus Spuckler distracts Cargill while the rest of the town climb up the rope and escape through the hole. Homer makes it to the top of the dome and slides down the rope, knocking everyone and the bomb off of it, accidentally halving the detonation time in the process. In desperation, Homer notices a motorcycle and realizes what he must do. Meanwhile Bart is at the church, as he has decided he wants his last moments to be with Ned whom he has adopted as a father-figure. Homer shows up at the church with the bomb and eventually convinces Bart to accompany him.

2021’s Disney+ short Plusaversary saw iconic Disney characters rocking up at Moe’s Tavern for a party. Jean later expanded that there was the fear of the potential film being considered "not canonical" with the TV series and the potential backlash of overcoming it by using a "memory wipe." But before the sequel to ‘The Simpsons Movie’, Disney will also be creating the film based on the Fox animated series ‘Bob’s Burgers‘.

Before his death, Phil Hartman had always wanted to create a live action Troy McClure film, with several of the staff saying that they would have loved to help create it. Instead of going through the P of "SIMPSONS," the camera goes through the O of "MOVIE" as the banner falls loose. The camera zooms in on the town, with several major landmarks popping up. The camera then zooms in to Mr. Burns, who is holding a toothbrush in his bathroom with Smithers who gives him toothpaste, the extra weight of the toothpaste causes frail Mr. Burns to collapse. The camera then zooms past Moe's Tavern into the Kwik-E-Mart where Apu is secretly changing the expiration date on one of his products from 2006 to 2008.

Scorpio, was in fact, the original choice for the villain, but he was ultimately changed because he is too well-liked. It would be really interesting to have him precisely for this reason, also because the fans have been eager to see him on the big screen. The Simpsons Movie contains the hearty laughs, biting satire, and honest portrayal of an American family that makes the show so popular. And it boasts slicker animation and polished writing that hearkens back to the show's glory days. The Simpsons Game was released to coincide with the film's DVD release. In "Treehouse of Horror XVII", first shown on November 5, 2006, in the credits executive producer Al Jean's name had the date of the release as a middle name.

The plot ofThe Simpsons Movieis so contained that it wouldn't need to be continued in a second film. Originally Marge was the character who had the prophetic vision in church. The writers however considered this to be too dark and it was changed to Grampa. He was previously named Dexter and Adrien, and his appearance was completely altered.

However, they learned Homer Simpson was the cause of the pollution spike since he threw a silo of pig excrement into the lake, so the Simpsons were exiled. While Homer seems like the obvious culprit, there are several other suspects who played a part in Springfield being domed, including the following characters. In 2014, Brooks stated that he had been approached by Fox and that they had requested a second film. Jean later expanded that there was the fear of the potential film being considered "not canonical" with the TV series and the potential backlash of overcoming it by using a "memory wipe". In July 2017, Silverman and Jean said that the sequel was in the early stages of development and stressed the toll production of the first picture took on the entire staff.
Bart was one of the main causes of the dome-ing, but he was only a factor leading to the misfortunate events that followed. Bart was forced to help his dad reshingle the roof, but he quickly got bored and took advantage of his dad's childlike behavior by suggesting a dare contest. It escalated into the ultimate dare, where Bart was challenged to skate to Krusty Burger and back naked. Bart took the dare, leading Homer to Krusty Burger just in time to save Spider-Pig from being slaughtered; therefore, leading to the eventual disposal of the silo. Julie Kavner was praised for her emotional performance as Marge and was nominated for an Annie Award for voice acting. The Empire State Building was illuminated yellow, the first time the building had ever been used as part of a film promotion.
Homer grabs a tube of superglue , which he applies to each hand and climbs up the dome himself. Carl tells the rest of Springfield, to climb the rope to safety while Cletus distracts Cargill. By the time Homer gets to the top , Homer descends down the rope, knocking the escaping town people and bomb off the rope. Homer is upset when Bart disowns him for this and accidentally kicks over the bomb making it 4 minutes and 15 seconds, which halves the bombs time limit, resulting in him getting berated by the townspeople again.
Some scenes, such as Marge's video message to Homer, were recorded over one hundred times, leaving the voice cast exhausted. Director David Silverman said that unlike the TV series where "you to pick and choose", the film gave them the opportunity to "lavish that attention every single scene". Silverman and the animators looked to films such as The Incredibles, The Triplets of Belleville, and Bad Day at Black Rock for inspiration, as they were "a great education in staging because of how the characters are placed". They also looked for ideas for a dream sequence, in Disney films such as Dumbo and the Pluto cartoon Pluto's Judgment Day and for crowd scenes in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Silverman looked at some of the Simpsons episodes he had directed, primarily his two favorites, "Homie the Clown" and "Three Men and a Comic Book".

The combination of Homer Simpson, his new pet pig, and a leaky silo full of excrement triggers a disaster that threatens not just Springfield but the entire world. While it is easy to say the main culprit is Homersince he dumped the silo in the lake, he is not alone in what caused the modification to the town. That mixed with the incompetence of the political leaders, the impatience of a young environmentalist and the avoidable death of band all led to the dome dropping on the town.
Russ Cargill decides that Springfield is too dangerous and places a dome over the town, stopping anything from getting in or out. When the town people find out the true culprit behind the problem, they set out off straight for the Simpson's home. Escaping from the dome, the Simpsons decide to start a new life in Alaska, whilst the remainder of the town disappears. Whenever a tragic event happens, people often look for a scapegoat to blame their problems on.
